Slide show — Summer

Stipa pennata catches the early morning light.Pots on the patio are filled with salvias, lilies, agapanthus and this lovely Kniphofia thomsonii var. snowdenii.Hemerocallis 'Berlin Red'.Bees enjoy thistle-like flowers. This one is Eryngium giganteum 'Miss Wilmott's Ghost'.I grow hostas in old chimney pots. It's not a fool-proof method but the slugs do take a little longer to get to them. The ones on the left are Hostas 'Francee' and on the right Hosta x hybrida 'Minuteman' which keeps its colour well into autumn.Kniphofia 'Ice Queen' stands out in the late summer border.A very welcome creature.
